The Inflation Reduction Act will make it more affordable for families to purchase energy efficient equipment, make repairs to their homes, and save money on utility bills. In 2023, income tax credit amounts will increase, and new rebates will become available for making improvements to homes.
All ducted heat pumps that have the EnergyStar label on them are eligible for the rebate, as well as certified mini splits with:

• SEER2 > 16
• EER2 > 12
• HSPF2 > 9

Certain EnergyStar COLD CLIMATE certified equipment qualifies as well:

• Ducted with EER2 > 10
• Mini-splits with
  • SEER2 > 16
  • EER2 > 9
  • HSPF2 > 9.5 

For efficient, electric upgrades, the rebates can add up to as much as $14,000 and can be combined with income tax credits. With respect to the elements of an ENERGY STAR Home Upgrade, these rebates would be up to $1,750 for an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heater and $8,000 for an ENERGY STAR heat pump.
