Gustave A. Larson South Holland Store sets the pace for quick delivery for major refrigeration project.

"Kokomo or bust" was the rally cry for Gary Nelson and his team as they sourced, staged, loaded and delivered one of the largest refrigeration jobs for the South Holland store.

According to Gary, "Our team needed a quick turnaround and performance above customer expectations to satisfy the needs of Ken Schoon and Al Womac from Midwest Refrigeration of Merrillville, IN for the remodel of the Kokomo, IN Wal-Mart store. We worked with a three-day window to source equipment from our main distribution center and other Team Chicago stores to meet the deadline. The project included over 15,000 feet of copper pipe and insulation, 4,100 copper fittings, 2,000 feet of strut channels and over 5,200 pounds of refrigerant!

"The job was shipped 99% complete", says Steve Landis, Larson Sales Consultant for Midwest Refrigeration. "I put the remaining 1% loose fittings in my trunk and delivered them to Kokomo. I wanted to meet the Midwest installation crew on the jobsite and make sure they had everything they needed and also get their feedback on how we handled the job. I was glad to hear they were pleased with the extra care and effort we took in loading the trailer."

Gary also states, "some of our pre-planning will definitely help Midwest on the jobsite. Right from the start we considered a jobsite trailer and loaded it for the customer's convenience and workflow. We used a first-in, last-out plan in loading the trailer. We also packed according to item, placing elbows in one carton and street els in another. Rich Yavenue made sure all loose fittings were put in plastic bags and clearly marked. we tried to load the truck and stage materials the way we would want it if we were the Midwest installation crew", says Gary. "Our customer was very pleased with the pre-planning and quick response that went into the job."

"A big job like this was exciting to my guys," says Gary. "They're proud of the accomplishment of such a professional job in just 8 hours."

Gary's South Holland store is one of four locations for Gustave A. Larson in the Chicago area. Stores are also located in Elgin, Buffalo Grove and Melrose Park.
