Pat
Popa has all her ducks in a row when it comes to community involvement.
Pat and her husband Nick Popa are owners of Popa Sheet
Metal and have been active in community activities in Highland, Indiana
since opening their business in 1968.
Pat claims that, "Giving back to your community is
always a good idea. People like doing business with companies that are
involved. The more networking we do, the more contacts and relationships
we develop. The more people trust our company, the more opportunities we
have in servicing their homes and business comfort needs".
Pat's latest venture in community affairs involved the
Downtown Duck Exhibit in Highland. "Ducks" was Pat's brain child and
working with the Highland Downtown Association, the downtown area has
become an outdoor art exhibit featuring over 50 3-foot high ceramic ducks.
Pat got the idea from similar successful exhibits in Chicago and
Naperville and consulted with an associates in Richmond, Virginia who
managed an event in that area. "Through the event, we've achieved our goal
of raising substantial funds for our redevelopment commission and
have also brought in many visitors to our town to support local retailers
and businesses," says Pat. "For our business, it has
mean more contacts and more opportunities. The Times Newspaper also
featured a Duck supplement that included our ad for
Comfortmaker and Aprilaire Products. In the ad we
feature our support and participation in the Duck exhibit as another
indication of our involvement with the community."
The Duck Exhibit kicked off on May 31st (2003) and will
be displayed through Labor Day. At the end of the exhibit, ducks will be
auctioned off and proceeds will be contribued to the futher beautificaiton
of the downtown area. Popa Sheet Metal sponsored two ducts with the
support of Gustave A. Larson Company and Comfortmaker Air Conditioning.
Themes for the two Popa ducts were fitting to the industry and called
Ducktape and Duckwork. |
