Hydronics Designer

Job Description

Summary

Under the leadership of the Hydronics Team Leader, and together with product manufacturers and their reps, immediately become familiar with the Gustave A. Larson Company’s hydronics equipment, design software programs, and the individual components to complete a proposal.  Train CSR’s on hydronic systems.  Assist SC’s in their efforts to sell our hydronics systems, primarily radiant type systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promote hydronic related products.

  • Recommend needed hydronic products and accessories

  • Track the ordering, sales, delivery, installation of existing products and accessories.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our vendors and manufacturers reps.

  • Train branch personnel within in the assigned territory.

  • Make recommendations for effective branch display of hydronic products and maintain adequate stock levels

  • Responsible for the design, layout, heat loss calculations, and sales of hydronic systems.

  • Assist other team members with any over flow in work to satisfy our customer’s needs and deadlines.                   

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the various hydronic systems, components, control systems particularly radiant type systems.

  • Solid computer skills.  A demonstrated ability to quickly learn and work with Radiant software.  Experience with ACAD, or the willingness to learn.

  • Good presentation skills for group training.  Above average communication skills in working with our SC’s, customers to explain the various advantages of hydronic systems, and in dealings with manufacturers’ reps.

  • Basic engineering skills needed to read and understand blue prints and specifications, as well as strong knowledge of formulas needed for basic engineering calculations.

  • Ability to design radiant panel or hydronic systems.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting ailing hydronic systems.

  • The ability to articulate recommendations for workable solutions for a building’s hydronic heating needs.

  • Occasional overnight travel required.

Education and/or Experience

Requires successful completion of an approved secondary HVACR vocational curriculum (or equivalent) and 3 years in the industry.  The successful candidate must also have a track record of successfully creating partnerships with internal and external customers. 

Other Skills and Abilities

Requires knowledge of word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), organizer/email (MS Outlook), and presentation (MS PowerPoint) software.  Knowledge of inter-related data bases (MS Access) is a plus.

Reporting

This position reports directly to the Hydronics Team Leader.
