Director of Branch Operations

Job Description

Summary

Under the direction of the President, the Director of Branch Operations will serve as the liaison between the branches and all corporate support departments with the overall goals of improved customer service, streamlined branch processes, increased communication between the branches and corporate departments, and more highly motivated branch personnel.  The Director of Branch Operations is responsible for providing overall guidance in adhering to company policies, procedures and standards, as well as leading all branches to be as productive, efficient and effective as possible, thereby increasing overall company sales and profitability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Examines, measures, and improves branch activity to ensure effective and efficient customer service and fulfillment.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Initiates random branch audits and assures their completion.  Investigates discrepancies thoroughly and effectively.
  • Teaches effective inventory methodologies as well as inventory control through implementation of stocking templates and cycle counting processes.
  • Recommends and assists in the development of both technical and general business/management education and training programs for store personnel.
  • Monitors material handling to ensure efficient warehousing, delivery, and a safe work environment for all branch personnel.
  • Through effective merchandising efforts, promotes company standardization of self-service showrooms including product displays and placement of ongoing special/sales.
  • Educates store personnel in branch financials and helps facilitate annual budgeting process.
  • Creates environment to help Store Managers be completely effective in their role

Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with corporate senior management to implement, monitor, and inspect programs and policies in order to reduce risk of loss and increase efficiency.
  • Together with the regional General Manager, increase accountability of store managers to create a total customer satisfaction environment utilizing tools such as performance management process, effective hiring, mentoring, & job training.

Immediate Projects:

  • Ensure that GALCO Store Standards are implemented and maintained by the Store Manager. With GMs and corporate senior management, verify store standards on a regular basis in each branch throughout Company footprint.
  • Begin random Branch Audit Program.
  • Update and maintain a branch policy/procedure manual.
  • Build and maintain a master repository of all critical store data such as branch assets, keys, security codes, emergency/after hours contacts, etc.
  • Develop an education process for all new store hires (specifically CSRs, warehouse and drivers)
  • Coach Store Managers to conduct effective, monthly branch meetings.
  • Look for opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in all branch operations.  Ideas include researching utility energy savings, pooling purchasing power, challenging taxes and maintenance charges, etc.
  • Standardize merchandising and all related layouts, displays, etc., in all stores.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

  • Ability to travel at least 50% of time is required.
  • Auto allowance as well as reimbursement of reasonable expenses will be provided.
  • Laptop and smart phone provided.
  • Any other duties/assignments as required by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:  Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience, minimum 8-10 years. 

Other Skills and Abilities:  Requires knowledge of word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), and presentation (MS PowerPoint) software.  Must be able to successfully read and interpret a profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.  Must demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
